For a considerable period in the history of optical film development, optical film technology and market were basically monopolized by a few manufacturers such as Japanese companies Keiwa, Tsujiden, Kimoto, Toray, Korean companies SKC and LGE, American company 3M, and Taiwanese company Youhui.

Keiwa 

Keiwa Corporation, founded in 1948 and headquartered in Osaka, Japan, is one of the major manufacturers of optical diffusion films in the world, with a market share of diffusion film products ranking first in the world.

In 2006, in the Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone in Nanjing, Huihe Optoelectronic Materials (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. was established, mainly producing optical diffusion sheets for LCD displays. Its customers are major LCD panel manufacturers in East China, South China, Taiwan, and Japan.

SKC

SKC Corporation is the largest high-end material manufacturing enterprise under SK Group, a Fortune 500 company. It mainly produces polyester films, high-tech batteries, optical media, and new material products. It has optical polyester film substrates and advanced coating technology. SKC's polyester film products are widely used in many fields, mainly in optical films such as diffusion films and brightening films.

In June 2011, SKC, together with SK China, Toyo Aluminum, Itochu Plastics, Itochu Metal, and others, jointly invested in the SKC functional film project in Nantong. It has now developed into a global optical film enterprise producing optical films for LCD displays.

3M

3M Company is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and is a world-renowned multinational company with diversified products. In the Optical Products Division of our country, we mainly engage in product development and innovation in core technology fields such as thin films, precision coatings, optics, imaging, and micro replication. Our products include LCD TVs, LCD displays, laptops, handheld computers, back projection TV lenses and imaging systems, computer optical privacy protection films, computer vision protection screens, anti reflection protection films, MicroTouch touch screens, and touch displays that are widely used in the market.

3M recently signed a contract with SKC Hi tech&marketing to sell its core DBEF and introduce the DBEF outsourcing production system. 3M has shifted from using its own patents to produce and supply DBEF to simultaneously selling core products to external companies.

SKC Hi tech&Marketing, which acquired core business from 3M, has started producing DBEF, a product used for large-sized displays over 65 inches. It compensates for the weaknesses of current DBEF and solves the problem of wrinkles in large panel applications.

LGE

LGE, officially known as LG Electronics Co., Ltd. in Chinese, is a global leader and technology innovator in the fields of consumer electronics, mobile communication products, and home appliances, under the LG Group.

Its subsidiary LG Chem is a top chemical enterprise in South Korea, producing various products including petrochemical products, high value-added plastic products, and high-performance industrial materials, and expanding its chemical expertise to high-tech materials (used in electronic products) and information technology (such as state-of-the-art rechargeable battery and display materials).

Toyo

Toray Corporation was founded in 1926 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the world's major manufacturers of optical reflective films.

Toray Corporation is a world-renowned high-tech multinational enterprise with core technologies in organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, and biochemistry.

Emperor

Teijin Corporation is a well-known multinational corporation in Japan, one of the major manufacturers of optical reflective films in the world, and one of the giants in the Japanese chemical fiber and textile industry.

Since 1993, Emperor Corporation has invested in Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone and established Nantong Emperor Company, First Synthetic Fiber Company, Emperor Processing Silk Company, and Emperor Automotive Fabric Processing Company.

Youhui

Established in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 2003, it became a listed company in Taiwan in 2010, mainly engaged in the research and development, production, and sales of brightening film products.

In recent years, Youhui has actively developed profitable small and medium-sized products, including small-sized composite films, low yellowing products for automotive use, and composite materials. In the company's 2016 operating revenue, brightening film rolls accounted for 89.47% and brightening film sheets accounted for 10.53%.

Previously, there were also reports that Youhui is interested in entering the quantum dot TV market, possibly by using micro cadmium materials to enter the quantum dot film market, or by obtaining technology through patent authorization, both of which are currently under planning.

Nowadays, China has become the world's largest consumer and manufacturer of display products, with LCD screen production capacity ranking second in the world. 80% of optical film sets are produced in China, and the demand for display optical films has reached 1.5 billion square meters, which will further grow with the development of the display screen market.

Kangde Xin

Kangde Xin is mainly engaged in the development, production, and sales of pre coating and laminating equipment, and is the largest pre coating production enterprise in China. According to data, in 2011, Kangde Xin's 40 million square meter optical film demonstration line was put into operation, officially entering the field of optical films. The types of products that can be produced include backlight module components (light guide plate, reflective film, diffusion film, brightening film and composite brightening film), ITO hardened film, anti infrared film, IMD film, reflective film, etc.

At present, the company has formed a customer base mainly consisting of domestic and foreign first-line customers, including Apple, Samsung LG、 BMW, Huawei, AU, Innolux, BOE, Hisense, Skyworth TCL、 Changhong, Kangjia, Guanjie, Qunchuang, Acer, Lenovo, Foxconn, Shentianma, Huaxing, HP OPPO、vivo、 Lansi, Bern, Midea, Siemens, Xinfei, FOTILE, Konica, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Volvo, Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, Guanghui, Pangda, BAIC, Changan, CATL and more than a thousand domestic and foreign first and second tier customers.

Nanyang Technology

Dongxu is a subsidiary of Nanyang Technology Holdings, mainly producing reflective films and diffusion films. According to public information, Dongxu Cheng Optical Film Coating, a subsidiary of Nanyang Technology Holdings, maintains strong production and sales, and continues to supply small quantities of brightening film projects with an annual output of 20 million square meters to LG Electronics in South Korea. In addition, the first phase of the company's annual production of 16000 tons of optical film coating project has also been put into operation.

Hefei LeKai

Hefei LeKai is affiliated with China LeKai Group Co., Ltd. and was merged into China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation in 2011. It has 4 polyester film production lines, 14 precision coating production lines, and 1 polyester slicing production line. The company is mainly engaged in the research and development, production, and sales of optical grade polyester films and various functional films for flat panel displays. Its leading products include optical grade polyester films, lower diffusion films, hardening films, etc.

In September of this year, the company's functional film workshop 5 successfully debugged and mass-produced 1510mm wide CDX131G diffusion film. Previously, the mass-produced diffusion film was 1340mm wide, but now it is 170mm more than before. CDX diffusion film has been successfully supplied to Samsung LG、 Renowned domestic and foreign LCD flat panel display companies such as AU Optronics, BOE, Hisense, Konka, Changhong, Skyworth, and Tianma.

Jizhi Technology

Ningbo Jizhi Technology Co., Ltd. was established in March 2007, mainly producing optical film products, including diffusion films, brightening films, quantum dot films, composite films (DOP, POP, etc.), white reflective films, silver reflective films, 3D display films, anti blue light films, protective films, mobile phone hardening films, etc.

The above-mentioned optical film products are widely used in various display application fields such as televisions, displays, laptops, tablets, smartphones, navigation systems, and car displays.

The company's products have been approved by Samsung LGD、 Sharp, AU, Foxconn, TPV Arcelik A.S.、VIDEOCON、PT Hartono、TCL、 Certification for leading domestic and international brands such as Hisense, Haier, Changhong, Skyworth, BOE, Tianma, Tongfang, Huike, Nanjing Panda, Longteng Optoelectronics, and Xinli, as well as manufacturers of terminal consumer electronics and LCD panels (modules).
